Entitlement

Monish Subherwal

When someone thinks something is owed to them or when they feel they have right to something just solely based on who they are.

There are two forms of entitlement, in my opinion:

healthy entitlement vs. unhealthy entitlement.

Healthy Entitlement is when you understand your rights and request your rights be respected WITH mutual respect.  Healthy entitlement is a form of self-love and self-respect.  People who stand up for themselves are assertive and have healthy self esteem typically.

Unhealthy entitlement is when you simply ASSUME you have rights and that others must give you what you want simply based on who you are.  There is no mutual respect in unhealthy entitlement.  Unhealthy entitlement leads to delusion (that the world owes you something), victim mindset, and bad manners.

Here’s an article on healthy vs. unhealthy entitlement:  How to get what you want…without being an ENTITLED BRAT.
